Abstract:

Aquaculture is breeding, raising, and harvesting fish, shellfish, and aquatic plants. Basically, it's farming in water. U.S. aquaculture is an environmentally responsible source of food and commercial products, helps to create healthier habitats, and is used to rebuild stocks of threatened or endangered species. It's like agriculture, but done with fish, crustaceans and shellfish. Aquaculture businesses breed and harvest plants and animals in water – fresh water or sea water – and prepare them for human consumption. Aquaculture already provides over half of all the fish product that we eat in the world. Aquaculture ? the farming of fish, shrimp, algae or shellfish ? is the backbone of the fishery industry's economic success in India where Bangladesh can initiate aquaculture industry for its national economic growth. Henceforth the process Methods and overall idea to adopt from veteran countries like India and others. As Bangladesh topography is riverine many streams’ cannels and other natural water sources are very common in Bangladesh. Aquaculture thus possible and needed in the changing economic arena. With adequate data and information through exploratory research, Policy advocacy can be conducted with Govt. Ministry of Bangladesh. The four (4) stages of the Aquaculture Production Chain are as follows: • Hatchery. • Feed Mills. • Farm. • Processor The existing mechanism for processing informal aquaculture can be good source to address the above-mentioned stages. Locally, office of the fisheries and livestock to make link for the Prospects and challenge of Aquaculture in Bangladesh and through the issue to take in national level with the presence of Civil society Organizations, CBOs, DPOs, Researchers, academicians, development activist. As I have told above - Aquaculture is the farming of aquatic organisms such as fish, mollusks, crustaceans and aquatic plants. It involves organized production in aquatic environments through various methods ranging from extensive to intensive. So, Proper skills and knowledge with some practical experiences is a must for a successful aquaculture industry. A Comprehensive Plan is essential where Private sector, development sector, University and Govt. party alliances are mandatory. After small-scale action research on aquaculture related advocacy issue is determined and then to conduct advocacy with central Govt. For scaling up aquaculture industry in Bangladesh The Govt. should take it a high priority following the context and need. GO, NGO, Civil Society, Private sectors, Researcher – a comprehensive consortia approach would help the Process to advance.
