Biography:
Dr. Leire Arantzamendi has worked at AZTI in marine research since 2010, carrying out research projects in aquaculture. Throughout these years he has worked on lines of circular economy generation in aquaculture related to the use of alternative ingredients to fishmeal from food industry byproducts in sole grow-out and mussel hatchery diets. Since 2019, as coordinator of the EU_BIOGEARS project, she has been working on the implementation of biobased and biodegradable offshore mussel cultivation ropes with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint of mussel aquaculture along the entire value chain, while than to generate a circular economy.
