Title : Detection of aquatic strains promoting durum wheat growth

Abstract:

Initially, cyanobacterial strains were isolated from three aquatic environments (Lake Sidi M'hamed Benali, Sarno Dam, Oglet Eddaira). Conventional morphological identification revealed 14 strains of cyanobacteria belonging to the genera Anabaenna, Nostoc, Lyngbia, Microcystis, Merismopedia, Chroococus, Psudaananbaena, Limnothrix, Spirulina, Leptolyngbia, Rhabdoderma, and Geilernema. These were tested on three varieties of durum wheat (Triticum durum): Boussalem, Chen's, and Siemito. Our research has highlighted notable activities in certain strains, particularly those belonging to the genera Nostoc and Anabaena (OD, BS), as well as their combination in consortium (B5). These activities include nitrogen fixation, phosphate solubilization, and germination stimulation. In vitro experiments revealed a significant optimization of seedling vigor, as well as root and aerial growth. These results validate the potential of these strains as natural biofertilizers, contributing to the reduction of chemical inputs and the promotion of sustainable agriculture.

Keywords: Cyanobacteria, aquatic environments, durum wheat varieties, Nostoc, Anabaena, growth, sustainable agriculture.
