Aquariculture is the cultivation of ornamental fishes. Ornamental fish cultivation is the practice of raising attractive, colorful fish with a variety of features in a limited aquatic setting. It is mostly grown by farmers and hobbyists. Living jewels are another term for ornamental fish. There are two types of ornamental species: indigenous and exotic. There are around 30,000 fish species reported worldwide, with about 800 of them belonging to ornamental fishes. Freshwater is home to the majority of ornamental fish. The aquaculture business relies heavily on ornamental fish production. Apart from being a source of employment, the ornamental fish trade is a foreign exchange earner. It has an important role in both developed and developing nations.
